Kudos to both CCHS teams who did an outstanding job representing CCHS at the Regional Meet. Qualifications for next week’s state championship were altered as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Instead of four teams qualifying for state, only three were allowed. And, instead of 15 individuals qualifying for state, only two were considered for the event. Nathan Pontious knew exactly what he needed to do and successfully accomplished this task. He placed 8th overall and 2nd as an “At Large Individual” which qualified him for the State race.
The boys team did well as a group, with many staying in the 20 minute range. They progressed throughout the season and it definitely showed today.
Alissa Rall ran strong for the girls and placed 19th overall. She was a minute away from qualifying for the state “at large” position, which means she’s capable of running with the best females in our region and beating many of them! I’m looking forward to working with her and seeing her successes for the next three years! What a great way to end her freshman season!
Each girl ran a great race today and will continue to get stronger. I’m proud of their accomplishments and the way they bonded as a team this year.
The State cross country meet will take place on Saturday, October 17th at the Norris Penrose Equestrian Center in Colorado Springs. Looking forward to seeing how Nathan Pontious performs against the best competition in Colorado!
